A French Cheese Festival Is Coming To Sydney, So You Can Enjoy VIVID With A Side Of Fromage

Australia does many things well, but we all know the best cheese comes from Europe. The team behind the Bon Fromage Festival completely agree, which is why they’re delighted to bring the festival back to Sydney in 2022.

Taking place at the Cargo Hall of the Overseas Passenger Terminal from Friday, June 3 to Sunday, June 5, the European cheese festival will be held at the same time as VIVID — and what better way to enjoy your view of a lit-up Sydney Opera House than with a glass of wine and side of gooey fromage?

After the festival was forced to change plans last year, mailing French cheese selections to festival attendees and hosting remote tastings online instead of IRL, this year’s Bon Fromage is set to be the best one yet.

The centrepiece of the festival will be a giant French cheese buffet, which will be refilled throughout the weekend — organisers are expecting 80kgs of cheese to be given out to attendees every two hours. The buffet and accompanying cheese tastings will be free for anyone who attends Bon Fromage, which explains why the festival is planning to get through one tonne of cheese before the festival’s end.

The tasting buffet will include all your favourite European cheeses, including Brie, Camembert, Triple-Crème, Langres, Pont L’Évêque, Comté, Cantal, and many more.

In addition to the buffet centrepiece, Bon Fromage will also include a cheese market, in which 12 acclaimed cheesemongers and Australian chefs will be selling products, various dishes, and cheesy snacks. There will also be six different bars inside the festival, inviting attendees to match cheese samples with wine, craft beer, and spirits. And, to top it all off, there will be live entertainment throughout the duration of the festival.

Entry to the 2022 Bon Fromage Festival is completely free and, yes, includes cheese tasting.
