The Top 10 Friendliest Places In Australia Have Been Announced, If You Need Some Cheering Up

Most of the time, Australians are a pretty friendly bunch, at least outside of the cities. We’ll share the beer, hold open a door, give each other that little nod as we pass in the street.

But where are the friendliest places in the country?

Booking.com have answers, after they announced the winners of their annual Traveller Review Awards, and in particular ‘The Most Welcoming destinations’, based on millions of customer reviews.

While there was a worldwide list (and Tassie made it in, good on you Tassie), they also released a top 10 Aussie list.

Do keep in mind that winning destinations needed to have “at least 50 eligible accommodations to be included in this list, and were sorted by the highest share of winners per destination”, according to Booking.com.

With that in mind (drumroll please), these are the top 10 most welcoming places in Australia for 2020.

1.       Maleny, QLD

2.       Denmark, WA

3.       Hervey Bay, QLD

4.       Margaret River Town, WA

5.       Montville, QLD

6.       Rockhampton, QLD

7.       Mildura, VIC

8.       Bendigo, VIC

9.       Tanunda, SA

10.     Mount Tamborine, QLD

“As travel restrictions continue into 2021, continuing to support the Australian tourism industry outside of peak demand periods is critical to keeping local businesses alive,” Luke Wilson, Area Manager of Booking.com Australia, said in a statement.

“It also has become even more important to celebrate the outstanding service that the Traveller Review Award winners displayed during a year like no other”.
