Festival Bucket List: Laneway Festival Singapore
What: The South-East Asian incarnation of St Jerome’s Laneway Festival in Singapore.
Where: The festival takes place in the nature-park-meets-science-fiction setting of The Meadow at Gardens by the Bay.
When: Usually preceding the Aussie dates of Laneway Festival in January.
Fun Fact: Originating in 2005 in a smelly laneway in Melbourne, the festival has since expanded to several major Australian cities and internationally to Singapore, Auckland and Detroit. Always serving up fresh talent, 2015’s Laneway festival in Singapore featured the likes of FKA Twigs, Mac Demarco, St. Vincent and an excellent collection of local talent.
Why should you go? The lineup is always incredible – from eclectic indie starlets to bat-outta-hell rockers – Laneway always serves up the very best of new and exciting music. If you’ve outgrown the packed-to-the-rafters vibe of Melbourne or Sydney Laneways of late, why not expand on that Singaporean holiday and head over to the glorious Gardens In The Bay for a Laneway like no other; the same excellent artists but with fresh new scenery.
