Festival Bucket List: Bestival

What: A fantastically British festival, Bestival is an escape from the big city on England’s nearest island, with eclectic music, fun themes and excellent vibes.

Where: The UK festival takes place at the idilic Robin Hill country park on the Isle of Wight, England. A North American incarnation popped up in 2015 at the Toronto Islands in Canada and was headlined by Florence + The Machine, Flume and Nas.

When: Over four glorious summer days, from September 10-13, 2015.

Capacity: The festival attracts around 55,000 every year to the small isle in the English Channel.

Fun Fact: The festival originated in 2004 and was organised by BBC Radio 1 host Rob da Bank as an offshoot for his record label and club night Sunday Best. The festival is also commonly known to hold a Guinness World Record for the most number of people in fancy dress at one event, as the festival holds a fancy dress theme day on the Saturday of the festival.

Why should you go? The themes! If you love a good boogie in a crazy outfit, then Bestival is for you. Each year the festival has a non stop party to an eclectic theme. This year the theme is Summer of Love, so expect to see a bunch of young hippies floating around the idillic surrounds dancing their butts off to headliners Duran Duran and Missy Elliott.
