Deciding to pack up your life and relocate to another country for work, love or a simple sea change is easy enough. Deciding where to go, not so much.
Fortunately, plenty of people have done it, with some destinations loved by expats from all over the world. Now, the 2017 HSBC Expat Explorer survey has ranked the world’s best cities for expats, with Singapore taking out the title for the third year in a row thanks to “a good quality of life combined with strong career prospects and high earnings”. Can’t argue with that.
Now in its 10th year, the Expat Explorer survey is the world’s longest-running such study, analysing the experiences of more than 27,500 people from 159 countries and territories. Researchers look at how those who’ve opted to up and move feel about their chosen destination’s economic situation, family life and their experience of it.
Australia came in at number seven, with our commercial landscape brimming with opportunities for expat entrepreneurs.
