The Story Behind That Beautiful Basketball Court In Paris

If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram or Facebook lately — which, let’s face it, you have — you’ve probably come by a very colourful basketball court in Paris. Nestled between two buildings, the court is a noticeable pop of bright blue, purple and yellow. And it looks seriously cool.
So where has this impressive looking basketball court come from, and why haven’t we heard of it before?
The Duperré basketball court has actually been around for a few years now, but it recently got a fresh coat of paint. Previously, it was painted in bold primary colours.
The court was updated by Paris-based label Pigalle and Nike to coincide with the two brands’ new clothing collection. The bright colours are inspired by an early ’90s aesthetic, a time Pigalle founder Stéphane Ashpool believes was a golden era in basketball.
Next time you’re in Paris, head to Duperré in the 9th arrondissement to shoot some hoops on the one-of-a-kind court. Or, you know, just get a no-filter-necessary photo for the ‘gram.
