If you’re still coming to terms with the first photos of Disney’s much-anticipated Star Wars land, you may want to sit down, because they’re not done yet: Plans for a fully immersive Star Wars-themed hotel also dropped at the D23 fan expo over the weekend.
As part of the new Disney 360 vacation concept, the hotel is inspired by the Millennium Falcon and is designed to transport guests to a galaxy far, far away (figuratively, of course). Closer inspection of the first concept shots shows pod hotel-like accommodations and R2-D2 assistants, among other things.
But the best part is that guests are given every opportunity to participate during their stay, with personalised story lines created for every new check-in.
“It’s unlike anything that exists today,” Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek said at the annual conference.
“From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story. You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire.”
Disney’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions are currently under construction at the company’s Anaheim, California, and Orlando, Florida, parks, and are expected to open in 2019.
