Aldi Is About To Release A $20 Hot Cross Bun Gin, So Hop To It

Some people complain about the fact Easter treats flood the shelves literally the second Christmas is over, but not me. Chocolate tastes better in egg form (don’t ask me why, but it’s definitely science), and there is simply no such thing as too many fruitless hot cross buns (also science).
What I’ve never had before, however, is Aldi‘s new Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur, but I’m going to need it ASAP.
“Finally, Easter treats for the grown-ups,” said an Aldi spokesperson. “This Hot Cross Bun Flavoured Gin Liqueur is a sensational spicy gin, infused with nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves and gingers flavours blended together for a rich fruity taste of hot cross buns in a glass”.
For a solid Aldi price of $19.99, it can either be the spicy mixer of your dreams or served on the rocks, if you’re one of those people.
Produced in the UK by The Manchester Drinks Co and released for the first time this year (we did need SOMETHING good after 2020), the gin was crafted to find the right balance of flavours that would “capture the much-loved flavours of a hot cross bun”, the Director at Manchester Drinks, Richard Benjamin, told food4media.
“We are proud of the quality and affordable products we bring customers, but also the innovative and unique range we can offer Australians – and the Hot Cross Bun Gin Liqueur is no exception,” said Aldi Australia’s shopping expert, Nicole Higgins, in a statement.
“Crafted with the traditional spices found in your favourite Easter treat, simply mix with soda, sparkling wine or serve on the rocks”.
The hot cross bun gin will be one of Aldi’s limited edition items, so chances are pretty high they’ll sell out fast. The only option is to be one of those people lining up an hour before opening time on February 24 when it hits shelves.
I’m joking, but only sort of.
