Airbnb Has Expanded Its Trips Platform To Melbourne

Melbourne

As if it wasn’t already convenient enough, Airbnb has today announced it’s expanding its Trips platform to Melbourne, giving Melbournians the opportunity to showcase the best of their city from a local perspective.

Melbourne is the second city in Australia to host the Trips platform after it debuted in Sydney earlier in 2017.

Airbnb Chief Product Officer and co-founder Joe Gebbia is in Australia for the launch, which will be accompanied by a host of curated celebrity experiences from Melbourne’s AFL legends, real housewives and style queens.

Real Housewives of Melbourne star Jackie Gillies will lead a hip-hop class before a spot of tequila tasting (because of course), while four-time AFL premiership contender Jarryd Roughead will take die-hard footy fans on a behind-the-scenes tour of the MCG and stylist Nadia Bartel will take fashion tragics through a personal make-up session over drinks and nibbles. (All proceeds from these on-off events will be donated to the celebrities’ chosen charities.)

On a more permanent basis, visitors to the world’s most liveable city can try their hands at everything from vintage clothes shopping to kangaroo spotting and exploring Melbourne’s iconic laneways. There are 60 Melbourne-based Experiences in total.

“Airbnb Experiences unlock the true character of a city by connecting people to local hosts and their passions. Airbnb travellers visiting Melbourne cane now immerse themselves in the unique food, fashion, culture and sports for which the city is renowned,” Gebbia said in a media release.
