The ’90s were a simpler time. Mobile phones were only for calls, flannelette was in fashion, and Noel and Liam Gallagher could stand to be around each other long enough to record their debut album.
Now, the secluded recording studio where Oasis laid down Definitely Maybe is available to rent on a short-term basis.
Established in 1974, Sawmills Studio was a regular haunt of the Stone Roses, the Verve, Supergrass and Duran Duran, who favoured it for its quiet Cornwall location. The historic home can sleep up to 16 people across seven bedrooms. There are four bathrooms, along with a large lounge area and kitchen.
Even better, it’s only accessible by boat via the nearby River Fowey. So rock ‘n’ roll.
The recording studios are still fully functional and are available for hire, so guests could cross paths with the next big thing – though Sawmills manager Ruth Taylor told the Daily Mail holidaymakers tend to be more organised than musicians when it comes to planning their trip to Cornwall.
“It’s a hell of a lot easier dealing with holidaymakers than it is bands,” she joked, adding that she had been impressed to see the Gallaghers doing their own washing.
With weekend rentals costing around $1600 (£1000), you best round up your entourage for a ‘Wonderwall’ sing-a-long by the fire.
