There are some stories that stick with you from childhood – those of far flung lands reached through magical cupboards and wizarding schools hidden from view. Now, grown ups can re-live their favourite literary moments at Melbourne’s Storyville bar.

Storyville is split into a number of different sections, each of which have been individually designed. On the first floor is a cocktail bar called the Mushroom Palace, so called for the enormous fungus sprouting from its centre. Adjacent is a private dining room called the Bird Cage.
The dancing happens upstairs, in a Narnia-themed bar, while the Library is next door, a quieter area that’s easy to spot thanks to the giant book spines that line it.
At the bar, the cocktail menu comes in the form of an old-timey story book, and drinks are inspired by some of the literary world’s most whimsical figures.

Rowling’s book, allowing punters to mix their own cocktail in a little potions pot. Charlie’s Winning Ticket (vodka, chocolate liquer, vanilla and lavender) comes with its very own golden ticket – and you could even win a prize!
Who said fairytales were just for kids?
