If (like us) laying down in a field with hundreds of puppies is your idea of heaven on earth, oh boy, you’re in for a treat. Next week a bunch of sausage dogs and their owners are coming together in Germany to attempt to break the World Record for the most dachshunds in one place.

The lord truly does works in mysterious ways.

Following the Sausage Fest at Perranporth Beach in Cornwall, UK – which saw the record of 601 sausage dogs in one spot be set – Berliners are hoping to stake their claim and bring the trophy home.

It’s all going down at Dackelranch Lichtenrade (Dachshund Ranch) in Berlin, where locals are hoping to assemble 666 dachshunds on Saturday, July 21. Yep, pooches and their humans will flock from all corners of the country to the 500-square-metre dog play area in an attempt to claim the record.

The event has been organised by the owners of Posh Teckel, a dachshund-themed bar in the city’s Neukölln district. The team have been organising sausage dog meet-ups for years, and are confident in their chances of being the record.

“Germany is out of the World Cup but at least we can take the dachshund record from England,” the Posh Teckel team told Lonely Planet News. “I think we have a very good chance – people are coming from all over Germany and a few from other countries.”

Want to get in on the action but are dog-less? Never fear, everyone’s welcome!

Entry is free, but if you’re keen make sure you register here to secure your spot. Then, all that’s left to do is to check out Qantas flights and begin your next adventure!
