Wish You Were Here: The Cliff House Hotel, Ireland

Imagine an exclusive cliff-top hotel where you can enjoy endless ocean views, a world-class spa, luxury rooms and access to countless outdoor activities. Throw in a Michelin star restaurant and you’ve got the Cliff House Hotel.

But the weird thing is, it’s probably not where you think.

The luxurious 5-star Cliff House Hotel is located in Ardmore Bay, a humble fishing village in southern Ireland. Their coastal location is the drawcard here – the hotel overlooks the Celtic Sea in all its turquoise glory.

All rooms and suites at the hotel are sea-facing so you can enjoy their sun-drenched terraces and private balconies all while looking out over Ardmore’s bay that’s home to a few dolphins that play close to the shore.

The Cliff House is home to an intimate spa right on the water’s edge that offers a range of natural therapies, including full body massages, facial and beauty treatments and a special focus on active wellness – that is, getting outside and making use of the great outdoors.

There’s a whole heap of activities on offer including outdoor yoga, archery, sea kayaking, snorkelling, surfing, rock climbing, guided hiking and even some hole-in-one golf. Tee off into the direction of the sea with their biodegradable golf balls that turn into fish food when submerged. Handy!

Oh and that restaurant? Head chef Martjin Kajuiter’s one Michelin star restaurant known simply as The House Restaurant offers award-winning Irish cuisine using a huge chunk of local ingredients from the surrounding regions.

Prices start at € 355 ($558AUD) per night and include a full breakfast.
