Wish You Were Here: Hotel Zephyr, San Francisco

If there was ever a hotel that epitomised the fun, free lovin’ spirit of San Francisco, Hotel Zephyr is definitely it.

You’ll find Hotel Zephyr in the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf, just a stone’s throw away from activity hubs like Pier 39, the ferry to Alcatraz, Sausalito and the amazing Boudin Sourdough Bread Hall (the best spot for clam chowder bread bowls on the west coast). The hotel has 361 waterfront suites on offer, each with a commanding view of the iconic Bay area – you can even spy the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

After a whopping $32 million renovation and rebrand, the Zephyr is here to delight any and all visitors to the famed Californian coast. With its mix of eclectic furniture, colourful artwork and a smattering of refurbished metals and shipping containers from the local dock, you’ve gotta hand it to them – it certainly has character.

But the cherry on top ? There’s an entire outdoor dedicated ‘fun zone’ inside the hotel so you can let your inner child run free. The fun zone includes a ping pong table, a fire pit (!), an array of table top games like Jenga and Connect Four and San Francisco’s largest periscope on display.

You could spend a pretty good evening here, we reckon.

With all this colour and all that sass, it’s gotta be on the top of your San Francisco to-do list.
