Inside Manchester’s Magical New Wizard-Themed Escape Room

Finally, a place where you can put all those Harry Potter spells you memorised to good use! A wizard-themed escape room has opened in the UK, and it looks like you’ll need a diploma from Hogwarts to solve your way out.

Manchester’s University of Magic traps wannabe wizards in an imaginary black magic academy. Challengers must solve a series of puzzles using artefacts, clues and strategy to escape the room in under an hour. Those who cast the right spells and successfully battle dark forces will be rewarded with a place at the university.

And, best of all, they get to do it in full wizard’s garb.

For the uninitiated, escape rooms require challengers to solve a series of themed puzzles within a period of time – usually one or two hours – in order to free themselves from the room.

“This escape room is nothing short of magical,” Lucardo director Adam Conroy told the Manchester Evening News. “Myself and the creative teams have worked hard to make this a truly immersive experience, and we want people to believe in this magical world of witches and wizards as they cast their spells.”

(We do, trust us.)
