It’s always nice to go for a stroll beneath the trees, but what about above them?
That’s exactly what this elevated walkway in the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden in Cape Town, South Africa lets you do. Nicknamed the “Boomslang” (tree snake) because of its resemblance to a snake skeleton, this steel-and-wood walkway winds for 130 metres through the treetops, 12 metres in the air, and only touches the ground at two points.
There are several outlooks with a spectacular view of the mountains and Cap Flats, while at other points the Boomslang dips below the canopy so that visitors can admire the view from below.
Drop by at sunset (entry is free) for one of the dreamiest possible ways to experience the natural beauty Cape Town has on offer.
