So we’ve seen hotels in unique locations before – that swanky one inside a shipyard crane, that glamping spot on top of a shopping centre in Melbourne and even an entire hotel fitted out in a vintage 727 aeroplane. Well, how about this hotel inside of a cave?
Say hello to the Albergo Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita in Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Southern Italy. Ooh la la.
Located in the mountains of Abruzzo inside the Grand Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park, this unique cave hotel brings modern minimalism to a medieval Italian setting.
Each room takes its inspiration from the early 20th century, with wool mattresses sitting on a traditional iron bed structure. Handcrafted candles and soaps made using olive oil and beeswax bring extra flair to the unique room. There’s fireplaces, free-standing bathtubs and even a private balcony where you can enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding mountains.
But just because you’re living inside of a cave, it doesn’t mean you have to leave all creature comforts behind. The minimalist hideaway comes complete with room service, in-room massages and, of course, free Wi-Fi.
Prices for Albergo Sextantio Le Grotte Della Civita start at €165 a night ($253 AUD) and include breakfast.
