There’s A New Roller Coaster Set To Break 10 World Records

Are you ready? The world’s tallest, fastest and downright scariest roller coaster to ever exist is coming, and it’ll blow your socks off – perhaps literally.

Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio will soon be home to a record-breaking ride – the 18th roller coaster at the so-called ‘Roller Coaster Capital of the World’. Valravn is the intimidating name given to this monster of all thrill rides which is set to break a whopping ten world records when it opens next year.

The ride, which is still in the early stages of development, has been billed as the world’s tallest, fastest and longest coaster, which means there’ll be plenty of dips, dives and a few corkscrew turns thrown in for good measure. This is definitely not for the faint of heart, or really anyone who doesn’t have an iron stomach – it’s pretty damn intense.

So how will it go? You and 23 other willing folk will board one of three floor-less train carts, before ascending 67 metres at a staggeringly steep 47-degree angle. You will then take in the Cedar Point skyline while you’re held for four seconds overlooking the almost-vertical drop. You’re then plunged 65 metres down into a loop-de-loop and the whole process basically repeats itself with another plummet this time into a 270-degree corkscrew roll.

At its fastest, the ride will hit speeds of 121 kilometres per hour. Just let that sink in.

As well as being one of the most exhilarating rides on earth, it’s also one of the longest. The track is around 1041 metres long and it takes about two minutes to go through it all, which is actually a pretty long time when you’re paralysed with fear.

Oh and those world records? Valravn is so large it’s set to break ten records including tallest dive coaster, fastest dive coaster, longest dive coaster, most inversions on a ride, highest inversion on a ride and longest drop on a dive coaster.

Not impressed just yet? Maybe check out this POV video to see whether you’ll be able to handle this mammoth of a roller coaster.

Valravn will be introduced to the world in early 2016. Tickets are already available for pre-order on Cedar Point’s website.
