The zip line, or flying fox, takes you from the Eiffel Tower across the Champs de Mars, before touching down at the École Militaire, all happening over about one minute.

It’s a casual 115 metres high above ground, and will send you across at the insane speed of 90km/h – the same speed as a high-powered tennis serve, which is fitting given the ride has been constructed in celebration of the French Open.

To get a place on the free Eiffel Tower zip line, prospective riders can apply on the Perrier Instagram. Make sure your account is set to “public”, and post a story using the special “Smash Perrier” stickers. Add your location and tag @PerrierFr. This will enter you into the draw to win a place on the zip line – and you’ll have to head to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower to make the leap.

The ride will be operating until June 2, and it’s free. If you’re lucky enough to be in France right now, you know what to do.

The Eiffel Tower zip line is just the latest in an ever-growing number of death-defying zip lines across the world, including rides across Niagara Falls, Dubai city centre, alligators in Florida and an entire South African rainforest.
