Sydney’s Vivid Festival Will Take Over Taronga Zoo This Year

Sydney’s premier festival of light, music and ideas Vivid is upping the ante for their 2016 show, enlisting the help of a certain local zoo with a killer view.
Taronga Zoo will dazzle at this year’s Vivid with an illuminated trail of animal light sculptures scattered across the zoo’s Harbour-adjacent grounds. The light sculptures will include interactive lighting and sound effects with a host of moving parts. According to Vivid, they’ll be some of the largest and most technologically-advanced lanterns to ever feature at the festival.
The illuminated trail will include a major projection across Taronga’s grounds, as well as ten giant animal sculptures. Each sculpture is set to represent a species from Australia and Sumatra that Taronga Zoo is currently campaigning to protect. From the zoo you’ll also be able to get a pretty awesome view of the city as it shines bright like a diamond across the Harbour.
TBH, it’s going to be pretty hard to beat last year’s nerve-igniting sensory overload, but with the addition of new locations, new ideas and, of course, new lights, 2016’s Vivid is shaping up to take the throne.
Vivid Sydney will return May 27 to June 18 2016. Get ready.
