Sydney, Qantas Is Launching Direct Flights To San Francisco

Despite its small size of only 121 kilometres squared, San Fran packs a punch. The city is home to all sorts of things – a fashion forward youth, enveloping morning fog, countless start ups, iconically strong winds, incredible food and that hell-of-a-handsome bridge. No wonder it’s a popular destination for travellers. Qantas have responded to the pull of San Francisco by launching direct flights from Sydney starting on December 20.
Services will initially operate on peak days and ramp up to six per week in January 2016 using its newer Boeing 747-400 aircraft. This new San Francisco route is made possible by a significant expansion in the airline’s longstanding relationship with American Airlines, who will start a direct daily Sydney to Los Angeles service from December 19. This enhanced network will replace four of Qantas’ Sydney to Los Angeles services per week and one Qantas Melbourne to Los Angeles service per week, with the airlines codesharing on each other’s flights. Qantas will retain its daily A380 Sydney to Los Angeles and Melbourne to Los Angeles services, as well as its B747 Brisbane-Los Angeles flights.
