Names you may be familiar with – Ross, Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey and Chandler. You know, the Friends you all wish you had. Even though these characters only exist on our television screens, there will soon be a way to feel even more Friendlier than usual – that’s right, the totally not real but really famous New York City cafe Central Perk is on its way to Sydney.
For two weeks, Central Perk will be infiltrating Hyde Park in Sydney to celebrate all ten seasons of Friends arriving on streaming provider Stan this month.
It’s the place where countless favourite Friends scenes have occurred – from the first time we heard Phoebe sing ‘Smelly Cat’ to the time Billy Crystal and Robin Williams stole the gang’s spot – this place is truly iconic. There’ll be coffee, giant mismatched cups and that vintage orange couch. All that’s missing will be Gunther, Central Perk’s loveable but dorky barista.
Bring your real life friends to Central Perk on October 5 to 18 at Sydney’s Hyde Park on the corner of College Street and Liverpool Street. The pop-up will run 9am-5pm from Sunday to Wednesday and 9am-7pm from Thursday to Saturday.
