It’s an undisputed fact that stargazing is the bomb. Seeing upwards of 15,000 stars in a dark sky from the comfort of your own backyard is pretty special, but we’ve found a stargazing spot that’ll eclipse all the rest.
Book a night at the unique Elqui Domos in a heart of northern Chile to take your next stargazing trip to the next level. Opened over ten years ago, these eco-dome structures are the perfect way to enjoy the extreme beauty of the Elqui Valley during the day as well as after dark.
There are seven geodesic domes on offer at Elqui Domos, each furnished in a two-storey plan with a living room and bathroom on the first floor, and a main bed and detachable roof on the second floor. There’s ample terrace room outside too, perfect for setting up a telescope for an evening of stargazing.
Nighttime is when this place comes alive. The hotel offers specialised astronomic tours and even nighttime horse rides across the valley. Bike and car rentals, plus daytime horse rides, are on offer from the Elqui Domos, where you can discover the defiant Andes mountain range to the east and the Atacama Desert to the north.
