Spain Is The World’s Best Foodie Country For 2018 (Of Course)

best restaurants spain

Overnight at an event in Bilbao, Spain, the official list of the world’s 50 best restaurants was unveiled, showing us the best of the best in the restaurant world. Osteria Francescana located in Modena, Italy, took out Best Restaurant in the World. But it was the country of Spain that came away as the real winner, with the largest share of restaurants in the top 50.

Seven of the 50 best restaurants are located in Spain, dotted all over the country from Girona (#2) to San Sebastian (#9, #31) to Axpe (#10). This proves that the home of tapas, paella and churros really is the king of culinary countries.

Second in the country ranking was the USA – clearly more than just the home of hotdogs – with six entries, half of those located in New York City – followed by France with five entries and Italy with four. Australia was present with one entry – Attica in Melbourne at #20.
