The World’s First Sand Hostel Opened On The Gold Coast Today

Any kid creating sandcastles on seaside holidays has dreamed of building a fortress so grand they could sneak inside for an afternoon siesta. Well, now it’s a genuine possibility, with the opening of the world’s first ever Sand Hostel.

A joint effort from Hostelworld and Gold Coast Tourism, the sandy creation has popped up on Kurrawa Terrace on the iconic Gold Coast foreshore, and will be open to the public over three days from today, offering two exclusive accommodation spaces for visitors. Guests will have the option of an eight-bed dorm or a private double room.

Those who aren’t planning on spending the night are still invited to tag along for the festivities, including live music into the evening at the beachfront lounge, food trucks and a bunch of other activities like beachside yoga, sand sculpting classes, surf lessons and beach volleyball.
