That’s Hot: An Exhibit Dedicated To Early Naughties Pop Culture Is Headed For NYC

The early naughties was a fraught time for fashion (RIP Von Dutch trucker caps), but, for those of us who were fortunate enough to live it, it was an era of pop-culture gold.
Now, the time where the Holy Trinity came in the form of Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton is getting the shrine it so deserves. Yep, the Brooklyn artists responsible for last year’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen-themed museum are teaming up with Instagram account @PopCultureDiedin2009 for an exhibit titled Nicole Richie’s Memorial Day BBQ.
Inspired by the fateful 2007 party that started with a leaked invite and ended in Micha Barton’s hospitalisation, the exhibition will feature artistic interpretations of tabloid fodder like the aforementioned Holy Trinity’s clubbing days, Winona Ryder’s shoplifting trial and Madonna and Britney’s notorious 2003 MTV Video Music Awards kiss.
Nichole Richie’s Memorial Day BBQ will open at the Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan 1994 Museum in Brooklyn on Saturday and run until September 10. It’s open Wednesday to Sunday, 12pm to 7pm. Entry is free.
Never forget.
