New Yorkers Have Responded In The Best Possible Way To Dogs Being Banned On Subways

New laws were announced in New York City last year, banning large dogs from travelling on the Big Apple’s subway system. As you may expect, New Yorkers have responded in the best – and most New York – way possible, and the results have now gone viral on social media.

According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, “No person may bring any animal on or into any conveyance or facility unless enclosed in a container and carried in a manner which would not annoy other passengers.” The first problem here was MTA assuming that dogs annoy all passengers (we all know it’s the passengers who are most annoying!) Their second – much bigger – mistake, was assuming this rule would deter large dog owners. New Yorkers didn’t take too kindly to the rules, and have been thinking up all sorts of creative ways to get around it.

Specifically, by finding really large bags to fit really large dogs.

Completely undeterred, passengers found even more joy in bringing dogs onto the subway than usual.

And of course, the results have taken social media by storm. “Any dog brought onto the subway must fit into a bag.”

The news is so charming and heartwarming, it almost makes you wonder whether it was done intentionally.

At the end of the day, it looks like New Yorkers will do anything to get their puppers on the subway – and we’re completely OK with this.
