10 New Australian Hotels You’ll Want To Book Into ASAP

Keen to do Euro summer but don’t have the funds for flights and hotels? Eager to jet overseas but can’t take the leave?

Well, this round-up of new and cool accommodation is very relevant to your dilemma. Why? Because they’re all located right here in Australia.

From a glamping experience run by the iconic Australia Zoo to a pooch-friendly property in Melbourne, here are the best new places to stay in Australia this year.

1. Flynn, Cairns, QLD

Last year saw the openings of five-star hotels Riley and Bailey in Cairns. And this year, the Crystalbrook Collection Group trilogy will be complete with the opening of Flynn on March 31.

Described as the ‘wild child’ among the bunch, the hotel will feature a day spa, two glass pools and three levels of restaurants and bars – including the already-open and popular Boardwalk Social.

From Flynn, you can easily access the Great Barrier Reef and other tropical highlights of North Queensland.

2. The Albert, Sydney, NSW

Never considered a stay in Sydney suburb Mosman? Well, same – until we heard about the brand-new hotel The Albert.

A former stately home built in 1886, the property has since been transformed into a 26-room luxury hotel. Rooms are elegant yet comfy, and come with an antipasto platter served in the evenings.

In a nod to the hotel’s past, framed photos from the 1880s, a time of dapper gents and glamorous women, line its lobby walls.

3. Camp Croc Hunter, Sunshine Coast, QLD

Can’t get enough of the Irwins and Australia Zoo? Well, crikey, you’re going to love their plans to bring an $8 million wildlife camping experience to the Sunshine Coast later in 2020 – watch this space.

Camp Croc Hunter will offer everything from campsites and caravan sites to fixed, glamping-style tents and eco-cabins. Conveniently, a pool, café and covered cooking area will sit alongside the camping village.

4. The Tasman, Hobart, TAS

Tasmania has become quite the Aussie hotspot these days. Newcomer The Tasman will give all those visitors another option for a place to rest their head in Hobart when it opens in September 2020.

The hotel will bring the outside in, with the architecture and interior design channelling its surrounding area. Rooms will be Art Deco-inspired but modern; the hotel’s monument-like façade is shaping up to look impressive.

5. EcoNest at Highfield Farm and Woodlands, Snowy Valley, NSW

Nature lovers and conservationists will froth over EcoNest, the new accommodation at Highfield Farm and Woodlands in Snowy Valley.

The retreat isn’t only off-the-grid (read: no mobile reception!), it’s also next-level eco-friendly. Think solar panels, composting facilities and fresh eggs from a hen house.

Spend days here exploring the farmgrounds. At night, take in the nature sounds, curled up by the fire pit, phone long ago discarded.

6. Farmer’s Home Hotel, Northam, WA

For many, a visit to WA involves a road trip. So, if that’s the case, consider tacking on a detour to the quiet town of Northam (1.5 hours from Perth) in the picturesque Avon Valley for a stay at Farmer’s Home Hotel.

Developed by the same man behind The Premier Mill Hotel, which opened in Katanning last year, the boutique property will showcase the town’s character and history. It’ll also give guests the chance to chill right out.

7. Sequoia at Mount Lofty House, Adelaide, SA

Find yourself with some extra cash to splash and keen for a getaway in September this year (or any time after)? A stay at Sequoia at Mount Lofty House could be the answer.

Nestled in the Adelaide Hills, the swanky lodge will feature spring-fed pools, gorgeous gardens and, best of all, just 14 rooms.

Which means whether you’re lounging in the sun, strolling the grounds or dining in the on-site, three-hatted Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, you’re likely to find yourself with space to think.

8. Vibe Hotel, Melbourne, VIC

Fancy a shopping or sports-filled weekend in Melbourne once lockdown is over? For convenience sake, you’ll want to be in the heart of the city.

If that’s the case, the new Vibe Hotel – opening mid-April 2020 – is your best bet. In fact, you can’t get any more central than its location at Flinders and Queen Street.

Outside, you’ll be steps away from restaurants, laneways and a tram spot. Inside, you’ll find views of the Yarra, a pool and a gym.

9. Tallagandra Hill Winery, Gundaroo, NSW

Picture yourself lounging on a wooden deck gazing at the sun setting over a vineyard, glass of chilled white in hand. Sounds nice, right? Well, you can do just that in Tallagandra Hill Winery‘s brand-new boutique accommodation.

Just 30 minutes from Canberra and 2.5 hours from Sydney, the winery has opened three self-contained cottages, all designed for folks looking to get away from city life and to immerse themselves in Canberra’s wine region.

10. W Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC

And finally, the last new Aussie hotel to have on your radar is the W Melbourne, opening in December 2020.

Following in the footsteps of sister property W Brisbane, the Melbourne property will also have a pool, heaps of eateries and a modern décor heavy on bright, splashy colours.

But the best bit of the hotel has to be this: it’s pet friendly. Which sounds like a purrfect Melbourne stay to us.
