A ‘Star Wars’ Symphony Is Landing In Melbourne In December
The 2015 smash hit and third-highest-grossing film in history, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will make the leap from the big screen to the theatre in December, when the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) take on Oscar-winning composer John Williams’ classic score.
From December 8 to 10, the MSO will present the Australian premiere of Star Wars: The Concert Series at St Kilda’s newly refurbished Palais Theatre.
Led by conductor Nicholas Buc, the night will feature a full screening of The Force Awakens performed live-to-picture.
In a press release, Buc said he has always dreamed of conducting a symphony like this. “I am thrilled to be conducting this incredible event and for audiences to experience this film as never before – in full symphonic surround sound – at Australia’s first ever live performance of a Star Wars film concert event.”
Tickets will go on sale at 11am, Wednesday, September 6 – you can get yours here. If you just can’t wait that long, you can catch Star Wars: A New Hope performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on September 15, or see the MSO perform Harry Potter live-to-picture in November.
Fans of the movie franchise can experience the special event ahead of the release of the much-anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which will be in cinemas December 14, 2017.
