Lonely Planet Has Revealed The Places You Need To Visit In 2019
Intrepid travellers eagerly await the revealing of the annual Best in Travel list from Lonely Planet. It’s a list of predictions based on the communal knowledge of hundreds of writers and professional travellers, all experts in their field. And you better get there soon, because now everyone knows about that country you’ve been meaning to visit for five years. The Best in Travel 2019 list has just dropped.

It was praised for “its mix of religions and cultures, its timeless temples, its rich and accessible wildlife, its growing surf scene and its people who defy all odds by their welcome and friendliness.”

The Best in Travel list also picks out the best cities, regions and best-value destinations. Copenhagen emerged the number one city to visit in 2019, a “capital of cool” with foodie, architecture and activity scenes to match. The best region for travel is Piedmont in north-west Italy, with its “contemporary-arts and electronic-music scenes”, hiking, wine and scenery giving it the charm to come out on top. “World-class ancient sites hugging the Nile south from Luxor to Aswan are accessible for a few dollars,” making Egypt’s Southern Nile Valley the top destination on the list for value.

Australia makes an appearance in the list, with the Red Centre coming in at number four on the list of best regions for travel in 2019. The list suggests Uluru-Kata Tjuta, Watarrka National Park and Alice Springs as highlights in the region.
