A Pub In Scotland Has Been Named After J.K. Rowling
If selling more than 400 million copies worldwide, creating real-life wizarding empires across the globe or becoming the first ever billionaire author wasn’t enough, Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has continued her quest for world domination, with a Scottish pub being named in her honour just last week.
More than 10 years after the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book in the fantasy fiction franchise, The Conan Doyle, an iconic 150-year-old Scottish pub, has recently received a face lift and will be known as The J.K. Rowling for the next little while.
The rebrand is a temporary one, part of Edinburgh’s 2018 Hogmanay festivities, one of the world’s greatest New Year celebrations. The celebrations include short story installations and even projections on buildings across the city, allowing bookworms to relish in the tales of Scottish writers, both past and present.
Rowling famously penned the Harry Potter series at The Elephant House, a gourmet tea and coffee shop in the heart of historic Edinburgh.
If you were thinking of sinking a few steins of butterbeer, you best be on your broomstick. The J.K. Rowling will disappear after Thursday, January 25. But, if you miss it, we reckon you should drop in to The Conan Doyle for a visit when you’re in town anyway.
