Meet The Utterly Adorable Baby Wallaby At Healesville Sanctuary
Healesville Sanctuary in Victoria has been hand-raising a teeny tiny wallaby joey named Kit. I don’t say this lightly, but I literally cannot even.
Kit was born in Healesville Sanctuary nine months ago, but when her mum became too ill too look after her, Kit was taken in by the wallaby keepers to be hand-raised. (Don’t worry though – Kit’s mum is doing much better now.)
[related_articles]69356,72707,52177[/related_articles]“When Kit came into my care, she was very dehydrated and needed eight bottle feeds throughout the day, as well as round-the-clock care. At home she lives in a baby port-a-cot and comes out for about two hours of exercise in the house per night,” said keeper, and Kit’s surrogate mum, Raegan Di Paolo. Why am I crying in the club right now?
Since being taken in by Raegan, Kit’s health has improved in leaps and hops. Wallaby joeys become independent from their mother at 14 months, so once Kit’s mature and healthy enough to survive on her own, she’ll move back into the Sanctuary and be reunited with her mum.
[related_articles]73675,73602,71802[/related_articles]Until then, Raegan has her hands full. She’s been raising Kit for about five weeks now and it demands as much time and attention as raising a newborn baby.
But I think we can all agree that Kit is way cuter than any human baby. Look at this photo and tell me it doesn’t look like the cover of Kit’s debut indie rock album.
