Get Crafty At Home With All These Live Streamed Workshops From Local Artisans
Kassia is the Editor of AWOL, and a straight-up travel…
If there’s anything that staying at home has taught me, it’s that I love getting crafty. Something about concentrating on making something and forgetting about everything else is very therapeutic (science actually backs me up on this one).
I know I’m not the only one, seeing as puzzles have very quickly come into fashion again. There’s no need to limit your creativity and new hobbies though, and ClassBento is here to inspire you.
ClassBento have long been bringing you workshops from local artisans, and now they’re taking their variety of classes online. They’ll even deliver you a craft box ahead of time with all the materials you’ll need for your chosen class.
“By bringing our incredible teacher’s workshops into homes via live stream and free craft box delivery we hope we can do our bit to help friends, workmates and families with kids keep connected and stay stimulated during lockdowns,” explains ClassBento Co-Founder John Tabari.
When I say variety, I mean it. They have literally everything: brush colouring with watercolours, DIY soy candles, ceramics, painting, sewing, stitching, coffee scrub, indigo shibori dyeing, beeswax wraps, bangles. Honestly the list goes on, you can make just about anything. Check their website for a full listing of online classes.
“By attending a class, you’ll be supporting local small businesses and artists, and exchanging in meaningful cultural and social exchanges, whether it’s through Japanese floristry, Russian language, or Spanish guitar,” as their website explains.

Each class runs for for about 30 minutes to an hour, and prices start from around $25 including your craft box and delivery.
The best part is it’s open to the whole country, so you can join in from home, wherever that may be.
I honestly feel like I’m going to have this plethora of DIY items around my house by the time this is all over.
