Where To Have An Indulgent Night Out
In the last five years or so, Auckland has become an amazing food city. Start at Depot (86 Federal Street) in the early evening with oysters, clams and a New Zealand methode traditionnelle (sparkling wine). Move on to a main course at the French Café (210 Symonds Street), and indulge in the best of New Zealand (or French) wine. But don’t order dessert. Head down to Britomart, walk off some of the French richness and head to Milse (31 Tyler St). You may have to queue for a table, but that’ll give you a chance to rebuild your appetite. Order something off the ala carte menu (it’s worth it) and a glass of Château d’Yquem.
