And The Best City In The World Is…

The two best cities in the world can be found in the same country, with direct flights leaving daily from Australia – so what are you waiting for?

Condé Nast Traveler readers cast more than 100,000 votes for their favourite cities in the world in the 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards survey. This year’s winner is one of the most vibrant and, indeed for Australians, convenient cities to travel to. Tokyo has taken the number one spot, having climbed up dramatically from its 15th place last year.

With its excellent record and clothes shopping, cultural experiences, and array of nearby day trips, it’s no shock Tokyo has taken the cake.

Second place went to another Japanese city, with Kyoto dominating this year despite not placing in the 2015 poll. With its beautiful temples, hospitable people and chill atmosphere, it’s high on the list for seasoned travellers.

Florence, last years winner, rounded out the top three and was the highest placing European city on the list. (Perhaps while in Italy, you could check out the newly opened free red wine fountain?)

Last year, only Sydney made the top 30 list representing Australia. 2016 is another story though, as Australia saw two capital in the top 20 with Melbourne coming in at number 14 and Sydney beating it by two spots at number 12.
