I’ve always wanted to learn to ride a motorbike — when you see riders out on the open road it just seems so free. You know, with the cool leather jacket, riding on the wind, etc etc.
According to a new study by ING, it’s not just in my head, motorbike riders are “27 percent happier than the average motorist”.
Not only that, but 51 percent say they choose bike riding for it’s positive mental health benefits, 48 percent say riding is a form of mindfulness that helps them de-stress and 41 percent said they’re in love with the sense of freedom riding gives them. If ever there was a time to indulge in hobbies, it’s 2020. So go get your license, or feel smug in the knowledge that you already have one, and hit the road on these top five rides as voted by Aussie motorcyclists.
#1 The Great Ocean Road, VIC
A quick google tells me that this is actually considered one of the best motorbike rides in the world, so how about that? It’s not surprising really, considering the extremely beautiful views and windy roads.

It’s getting a growing reputation for top notch wine production, and now we know it’s a favourite among bike riders too.
#3 Adelaide Hills, SA
You might know it for the native wildlife and national parks, walking and horse riding trails and beautiful gardens. Apparently bikers know it for the awesome motorbike roads, particularly around Strathalbyn and Macclesfield.

Tasmania has its own motorcycle council, so that should tell you all you need to know about the popularity of the state with riders. Apparently they have perfect rides for all levels of expertise too.

According to bestbikingroads.com, the route from Sydney to Brookvale to Palm Beach and ending in Ingleside is a four-star ride.
