Gin cocktails always taste like sophistication. they don’t have to have a lot of ingredients or complicated steps but they always look very impressive, making them the perfect way to show off cocktail making skills, even if you don’t actually have that many.
We’ve rounded up a bunch of delicious gin cocktail recipes, that are still simple enough to make at home. Most of them feature some rad local distilleries (yay supporting Aussies!). However, you can obviously switch out the gins for whatever you have.
#1 Breakfast Gin Martini
Gin used: Forty Spotted’s Citrus & Pepperberry Gin
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker, then shake well. Strain into a martini glass with a twist of orange to serve.
Ingredients:
- 45ml Citrus & Pepperberry Gin
- 1 teaspoon of orange marmalade
- 15ml triple sec
- 20ml lemon juice
- Orange twist to garnish
#2 The Peddler’s Appolo
Gin used: Peddler’s Craft Gin
Method: Combine ingredients with ice and shake for 15 seconds. Strain into a goblet with ice and garnish with fresh chili.
Ingredients:
- 45ml Peddlers Gin
- 20ml fresh lemon juice
- 20ml fresh cucumber juice
- 20ml apple juice
- 15 ml elderflower syrup
- fresh chili
#3 Daalgaal Tonic
Gin used: Daalgaal gin from Headlands Distiller Co, featuring Illawarra Plums and native stingless bee honey.
Method: Stir with ice
Ingredients:
- 30ml Daalgaal Gin
- Splash of Capi Native Tonic
- Garnish of Blood Orange or Grapefruit.
#4 Black Truffle Martini
Gin used: Black Truffle Gin from Stone Pine Distillery, featuring black truffle.
Method: Stir the ingredients with ice, strain and serve into a chilled martini or coupe glass. Garnish with a burnt butter sage.
Ingredients:
- 5 parts Stone Pine Black Truffle Gin
- 1 part Lillet Blanc
#5 Mudgee Negroni
Gin used: XLCR Gin from Baker Williams.
Method: Stir with ice
Ingredients:
- 2 parts Gin XLCR
- 1 part Orancello
- 1 part Peter Van Gent Sweet Vermouth
#6 Southside
Gin used: Ink Gin from Husk Distillery, featuring 13 organic botanicals.
Method: Stir with ice
Ingredients:
- 45ml Ink Gin
- 30ml Lemon juice
- 15ml Simple Syrup
- Mint
#7 Lemon Myrtle Collins
Gin used: Moore’s Dry Gin from Distillery Botanica.
Method: Combine the Moore’s Dry Gin, Lemon Myrtle Liqueur and lemon juice in a highball glass over ice. Stir well and top with soda water, garnish with fresh lemon.
Ingredients:
- 20ml Moore’s Dry Gin
- 20ml Lemon Myrtle Liqueur
- 20ml Lemon Juice
- Soda Water
- Fresh Lemon
#8 Newy Distillery Signature Hot Chocolate
Gin used: Signature Gin from Newy Distillery, featuring fresh Orange, Lime and Lemon as well as Almonds, Orris, Cassia Bark and Grains of Paradise.
Method: Heat milk, add the milk chocolate to the hot milk. Once melted add the Newy Distillery Signature Gin. Top with whipped cream.
Ingredients:
- 60g Cadbury Milk Chocolate
- 180ml hot milk heated in the microwave
- 40ml Newy Distillery Signature Gin
#9 Shanghai Lady
Gin used: Peddler’s Craft Gin
Method: Add gin to an ice-filled high ball glass. Add 15ml grapefruit syrup and top with 150ml tonic water. Stir and garnish with a sprig of rosemary.
Ingredients:
- 45ml Peddlers Gin
- 150ml tonic water
- 15ml grapefruit syrup
- rosemary
#10 Winter Negroni
Gin used: Classic Wildbrumby Gin from Wildbrumby Distillery, featuring local native botanicals like the Mountain Pepper Berry.
Method: Place ingredients and ice in a lowball glass. Stir and garnish with orange zest.
Ingredients:
- 1 part Classic Wildbrumby Gin
- 1 part Seasonal Baked Apple Schnapps
- 1 part Italian Bitters or Campari
- Orange zest or slice
#11 G & Tea
Gin used: Connoisseur Gin from North of Eden’s, featuring local kelp.
Method: Place ice in a mug, add Earl Grey Tea, Connoisseur Gin and sugar syrup.
Ingredients:
- 30ml Connoisseur Gin
- 60ml Chilled Earl Grey Tea
- 15ml Sugar Syrup
#12 Gin Gin Mule
Gin used: Dry Gin Murrumbidgee from Aisling distillery featuring fresh Riverina Citrus.
Method: Place ice in a glass, add gin, add a fresh squeeze of lime, top with ginger beer, garnish with fresh lime and mint. Optional – if you prefer a sweeter drink, add a dash of sugar syrup with the gin.
Ingredients:
- 60ml Dry Gin Murrumbidgee
- Squeeze of Fresh Lime
- Ginger Beer
- 1 x Fresh Mint Sprig
- Dash of Fresh Lime
- Optional – dash of sugar syrup.
#13 Ruby Gin
Gin used: Ruby Gin by Pretty Parrot Distillery.
Method: In a tall glass add ice, Ruby Gin, half tonic and half grapefruit juice and garnish with a slice of orange.
Ingredients:
- 30ml Ruby Gin
- 115ml Tonic water
- 115ml Grapefruit juice
- Fresh Orange
#14 Basil & Cucumber Smash
Gin used: Brookies Dry Gin gin from Cape Byron Distillery, featuring 25 botanicals including Sunrise Finger Limes, Aniseed Myrtle, Cinnamon Myrtle, Macadamia, Native River Mint and Native Raspberry.
Method: Muddle the basil, lemon & cucumber in a shaker, add gin and sugar syrup, shake ingredients. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh basil.
Ingredients:
- 60ml Brookies Dry Gin gin
- 30ml Lemon Juice
- 20ml Sugar Syrup
- Basil leaves
- 3 Cucumber Slices
#15 Pineapple Negroni
Gin used: Peddler’s Craft Gin
Method: Fill a stirring glass with ice. Add all ingredients and stir for 30 seconds. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with an orange twist.
Ingredients:
- 45 ml Peddlers Gin
- 30ml Campari
- 30ml dry vermouth
- 5ml pineapple syrup
#16 Conventry Estate Gin Gimlet
Gin Used: Coventry Estate Dry Gin
Method: Combine all ingredients in a shaker and shake well. Strain inn a coupe glass and garnich with lime peel.

- 60mL Coventry Estate Dry Gin
- 20mL Fresh Lime Juice
- 5mL Sugar Syrup
- A lime peel to garnish
