Australian state borders are opening, Covid-safe events are popping up, and despite the rainy weekend we just had, summer is swinging on in. There’s a lot to look forward to in November after a spectacularly awful 2020.

#1 Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden pop-up plant sale

Everyone has been neglecting their ‘Gram this year, mainly because we’ve all been stuck indoors. Give it a boost with an epic backdrop of the stunning Jacaranda purple. They’re in bloom now, and these are the best places around Sydney to snap a cheeky profile picture.
#3 World Vegan Month

Non-meat food has come a LONG way since I became a vegetarian a couple of decades ago. Whether you’re a herbivore or not, there are several tasty ways to celebrate. Try $6 beers, $1 mac ‘n’ cheese balls, $10 cheesy dogs and more at Australia’s first 100-percent plant-based hotel bar, Alibi.

Speaking of cocktails, Opera Bar will play host to Sydney Cocktail Festival. From November 13 to 15, 10 awesome cocktail bars from around Sydney will take over, serving up fun a tasty cocktails. Participating bars include PS40, Double Deuce Lounge, and Mjølner.

Remember film festivals? Well they’re back in Sydney with a vengence this month. There’s the British Film Festival at the end of the month with a newbie featuring Kate Winslet, the Science Fiction Film Festival in mid-November, the Irish Film Festival and the tail end of the Korean Film festival — although the latter is online this year.

I have one word for you Kim, road trip. If you ask me, the rest of the year and much of the next will be about weekend road trips.
It just happens to be the best time of year for camping on the el cheapo, and there are so many places to choose from: from the beachy haven of the Central Coast, to the bright golden florals of the canola fields out near Cowra.

Live music is back baby! You just have to be socially distanced, obviously. Merivale’s new seated gig series Live At The Table is bringing a bunch of homegrown talent to The Beresford.

We’re all champing at the bit to be able to head overseas again. Personally, in an alternate universe I would have been in Japan last month.
There’s no equivalent, but you can take the edge off (and snap some cute photos, obviously) at the pop-up cherry blossom garden, Sakura Spring, at Manly Wine.
