These Luxe Cocoons Are Sri Lanka’s Most Lavish Glamping Experience

When it comes to glamping, we’ve basically seen it all. And while some of the magic is starting to wane, these incredible “cocoon suites” on the edge of Sri Lanka‘s Yala National Park make a pretty strong case for sticking with the trend.

Part of the Wild Coast Tented Lodge, which opened on November 1 in 2018, the 28 cocoon suites are inspired by African safari camps and boast incredible floor-to-ceiling windows with views of water holes that are frequented by local wildlife.

(Another four face a nearby beach and have their own plunge pools, just FYI.)

On site, there’s an outdoor bar, communal swimming pool and restaurant where guests can enjoy local cuisine and cocktails.

Yala National Park is Sri Lanka’s most famous, and is home to spectacular native wildlife like monkeys and leopards. Guests at Wild Coast Tented lodge can journey into the park with expert naturists who also lead lectures and workshops on the region’s native flora and fauna.

In the coming months, the lodge will become home to the region’s first leopard conservation project, which will allow experts to monitor and protect local wildlife. Several other sustainability projects are in the works, including recycled water, composting and solar power.
