All glittering beaches and lush jungle and tropical weather, visitors to Bali are spoilt for choice when it comes to the perfect shot. But Wanagiri Hidden Hill takes things to another level – literally.
Located in Munduk, an out-of-the-way village about two hours north of Ubud, Wanagiri Hidden Hill is punctuated by a series of whimsical vantage points over Lake Tambingan and Lake Buyan. There’s a human-sized bird’s nest, an Indonesian interpretation of the Eiffel Tower and a giant swing overlooking the water below.
Savvy locals reportedly built the lookouts in a bid to attract snap-happy travellers to the region, and it’s safe to say it’s working – thousands of Instagrammers have checked in at and hashtagged Wanagiri Hidden Hills since it opened in mid-2017.
Once you’re done taking in the view, there’s plenty to do on and around Buleleng Mountain, like Munduk and Banyumala Waterfalls, Ulun Danu Temple (also known as the “floating temple”), and the Bali Botanical Garden. A number of local tour operators travel to the area, meaning you can take it all in in one fell swoop.
Admission to the lookouts is free, but a $0.95 (IDR10,000) fee applies if you’d like to use the specially crafted platforms for a photo.
