This Music Festival In Tuscany Is Headlined By Delicious Carbs

You know what’s definitely not overrated? Italy. And if there’s anything that makes a music festival immeasurably better, it’s authentic, delicious Italian food. To get that dream combo, it’s time to visit Tuscany.

Specifically, the postcard-pretty town of Castiglion Fiorentino, at the midpoint between Florence and Perugia. Flash Festival – which takes over the town on May 14-16, 2020 – is capped at just 1000 tickets.

It’s a music festival with smart, hip programming, but crucially it’s also about non-stop eats from Tuscany.

Let’s start with the food. Flash Festival boasts such delights as a pasta-making course with a local nonna and a wine tasting session. The event also opens with a Tuscan feast of pasta, pizza and grilled meats, which really sells itself.

Throughout the festival, you can stock up on bowls of pappardelle with ragù and expertly-made pizzas. There’s also gelato, Italian pastries, cured meats and Aperol Spritzes in abundance.

The carb-loading is important, because Flash Festival is dance-y. In 2020, the line-up includes hyped house and disco talent like Bradley Zero, Laurence Guy, Eclair Fifi and Aussie expat DJ Boring. (There’s a yoga and wellbeing program for your dancefloor downtime.)

The sun-kissed location is also an essential selling point.

From its hilltop vantage, Castiglion Fiorentino offers beautiful views of the Tuscan landscape. The village is also rich in medieval history and, yup, local food traditions. It’s a comfortable drive from the airports in Florence, Pisa and Bologna.
