There’s A Wayne’s World Themed Pop Up Bar Heading To Sydney

Yes, a Wayne’s World themed pop up bar is opening in Sydney next month. What a totally amazing, excellent discovery!

Wayne’s World was a 1992 film starring Mike Meyers as Wayne and Dana Carvey as Garth. The cult classic features two slacker friends trying to promote the public access cable show that they make in their basement. Finally this basement is being brought to life.

Sydney’s pop up bar Whisky Jerx will use the film as inspiration to fill two floors of space on Oxford Street next month  – a party basement fit for a teenage metalhead on the bottom floor and a slightly more chill room upstairs. It’s here for a good time, not a long time, operating for five weeks only from February 18.

The bar is the brainchild of bartenders Lee Potter Cavanagh, Ben Blair and Reece Griffith. The dream was brought to life by the Ultimate Bartender Competition which ran nationwide with support from Monkey Shoulder whisky.

The prize was $20,000 for the winners to design, market and run their own pop up bar. This is what they chose. Bless them.
