Sydney Symphony Orchestra Will Perform ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ In Concert

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Now that the hype around The Last Jedi has died down, there’s likely a Star Wars-shaped hole in your life.

Fortunately, Sydney’s always amazing Symphony Orchestra is here for you: it’ll perform the Oscar-winning score to Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back live in concert on July 27, 2018.

It’s the second in the wildly popular live series, with A New Hope drawing hordes of fans to Darling Harbour’s International Convention Centre over the weekend. Movies are projected onto giant screens above the orchestra pit, where musicians take care of the John Williams-composed score.

Williams composed scores for all eight Star Wars sagas, starting with 1977’s A New Hope, which earned him his first Academy Award.

The Empire Strikes Back was the second film released in the Star Wars franchise, and sees Imperial Forces launch an all-out attack on the Rebel Alliance, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) captured by Darth Vader in Cloud City, and Luke Skywalker encounter Jedi Master Yoda for the first time. Now, just imagine all that, but with an orchestra!
