Switzerland Just Had A Nation-Wide Vote To Find Its Most Beautiful Village

This storybook hamlet in one of Switzerland’s lake districts has been voted the nation’s most beautiful village by a whopping 31,000 of its citizens.
The town is called Morcote, and really does look straight out of a fairytale. With only 770 people living in the lakeside town, it takes the idea of quaint village living to a whole new level.
Located on the shore of the stunning and expansive Lake Lugano, Morcote is referred to as “the Pearl of Ceresio” on account of its lovely muted architecture and stunning building facades.
The town itself has small winding alleys, and its inhabitants seem to have a penchant for adorable plant boxes and ornate house decorations.
Considering how adorably picturesque the whole town is, it should come as no surprise that some of the accommodation available is right out of Aesop’s fables. Our pick is Albergo Ristorante della Posta, which features a lakeside restaurant and private lake access, and costs a humble $100AUD per night.
It looks like a winner to us.
