The retreat is the brainchild of film and television director Manolo Ramon, who stumbled upon the idea for a glampsite while searching for a way to reinvent himself. After winning a local tourism start-up competition in 2015, there was nothing stopping him from creating his vision.
After opening its doors to the public back in June, visitors have flocked from all over to stay a night or two at the simply beautiful Pitahaya Glamping Retreat in Cabo Rojo, on Puerto Rico’s southwest coast. .
Guests can stay in one of five “houses”, each of which can accomodate up to six people. Each come kitted out with a private ensuite, a kitchen with utensils, a gas BBQ to cook on, and a pool and common fire-pit area.
Plus, the site is surrounded by some of Puerto Rico’s most lush nature reserves and the most serene beaches. In fact, the area has some of the darkest skies in the country, making it the most perfect place to kick back, relax and gaze at the Milky Way.
