Only One Aussie Spot Ranked In Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Regions 2017 List

When it comes to travel, the gurus at Lonely Planet know a thing or two. And when they release their yearly Best in Travel book, detailing the hottest destinations for the coming year, you shut up and listen.

This year, Lonely Planet’s agenda-setting collection of soon-to-be trending destinations is advising the world to set their compasses for one Australian region in particular: South Australia.

The inspo-heavy travel yearbook has ranked SA fifth on its list of Top 10 Regions 2017. Noting that South Australia has a flavour to suit anyone’s taste, Lonely Planet writer Chris Zeiher says: “Its climate may be hot, but South Australia offers the coolest mix of brilliant wine country, abundant produce festivals, stark and stunning tracts of picturesque Aussie outback and crowd-free beaches that could make even the Bahamas jealous.”

We wholeheartedly agree that South Australia is one of the world’s most exciting destinations right now. Here’s some inspo we prepared earlier on the great Southern state:


So what other regions do the experts think you should be heading to? Ever heard of Perak, Malaysia? How about Aysén, Chile? Or The Tuamotus in French Polynesia? No? Well then get studying, because they all claimed a spot on the superlative regions list. But topping the list was the Choquequirao region of south Peru for its isolated Incan ruins that rival Machu Picchhu.
