You Can Have A Beauty Professional Pamper You At Home For Salon Prices

I’ve become a little wild-looking in my self-isolation. Before it turned cold I was rarely wearing pants, much to the dismay of my poor housemates. My hair roots are becoming unseemly, my skin is dry (thank you, winter) and my eyebrows started running wild.

Does any of this matter, especially considering everything else that’s going on right now? No, not really. Yet I know I’m not alone in feeling fresher, more on top of life, and just better in general when these things are as I like them. Which is why when I was asked if I wanted to try out the brand new beauty offerings from Sydney-based home services app Urban Company, I obviously said yes.

“Customer demand for beauty services has escalated rapidly via our social channels,” explained Urban Company Australia marketing lead, Lauren Warwick, in a statement.

“It’s important for Urban Company to accommodate our customers and offer them a safe and hygienic way to access beauty and grooming services, to help lift their spirits in tough times.”

“It’s also crucial to be able to deliver stable freelancing opportunities to our beauty professionals who are also doing it tough during these uncertain times.”

Pampering and supporting local? That’s a yes from me.

What do they offer?

As the first service of its kind to relaunch now that we’re allowed to have two visitors in our homes (and it sounds like even more people in the coming weeks), they’ve taken extra measures to ensure all the treatments are safe and hygienic. As well as keeping your experience a little luxe, of course.

Their services include just about every beauty treatment that you’ve been missing: manicures ($59), pedicures ($69), facials (from $69), eyebrow shaping ($19), haircuts (from $94 including blow dry) and more.

Personally, I opted for an eyebrow shape and tint, eyelash tint and a facial. I know, your girl was living large. But also it was my birthday so treat yo’self, am I right?

What was it like?

My beauty therapist, Luisa, was an actual ray of sunshine. She rocked up with a smile and all her equipment, including a table, and instantly put me at ease about the whole process. I can’t explain why, but I always get a little nervous with these things, especially when I don’t know what to expect.

Luisa had my skin analysed within moments — something that I’m never properly able to do for myself even after years of trying.

She worked out exactly what type of facial I needed, as well as the best way to go about shaping my brows and what sort of tint colour would work best for me.

I honestly couldn’t even tell you how long the whole thing took because I was the most chill person on the planet, but I’d say about an hour. What I can tell you is that my skin was literally glowing by the time Luisa left.

In a nutshell, I loved it and I would absolutely book again. You can find a full list of Urban Company services on their website or by downloading their app.
