Cheese is life, a concept South Yarra Italian restaurant Cucinetta understands well. So they’ve whipped up a gnocchi dish with a whopping 29 cheeses for your eating pleasure.
The dreamy, gooey dish is only available for two weeks, from January 4 through 17, so if you’re in Melbourne and a turophile, don’t dilly dally.
The pasta was originally conceived in 2019 and after being insanely successful, Cucinetta decided to bring it back this year for the third year running.
Why 29 cheeses, you might wonder?
“To celebrate the 29 square metres of our beautiful restaurant, we have decided to prepare this delicious handmade potato gnocchi, oven-baked with 29 different cheeses!,” Cucinetta explains on Instagram.
They’ve again partnered with artisanal cheese purveyors, That’s Amore Cheese, so you know it’s going to be legit.
Cucinetta deem the dish ‘record breaking’ with the cheeses used including:
- Fior di Latte
- Buffalo Mozzarella
- Burrata
- Scamorza Bianca
- Caciotta
- Pepper Caciotta
- Chilli Caciotta
- Truffle Caciotta
- Ricotta Delicata
- Ricotta Salata
- Mascarpone
- Squacquerone
- Buffalo Bocconcini
- Buffalo Ricotta
- Buffalo Caciotta
- Buffalo Mozzarella (smoked)
- Smoked Bocconcini
- Smoked Scamorza
- Smoked Caciocavallo
- Diavoletto
- Secret of The Forest
- Drunken Buffalo
- Lavato
- Panettone
- Panettone with Truffle
- Caciocavallo
- Bufalotto
- Blue Cheese
- Formaggio di Vacca
Those different types of mozzarella alone make this pasta sound off-the-charts delicious.
The special serving will set you back $34.99 and is available for dinner service only during the first week, but for lunch and dinner during the second week.
If you’re keen, you’ll want to book quickly as 29sqm is a cosy little space. In fact, this might be the smallest (and most charming) Italian restaurant in Melbourne.
