One of the most distinctive movie soundtracks in history, it’s hard to find anyone who isn’t overcome by emotion when that Harry Potter theme music plays. Today, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) has announced it will perform music from the first two films in the history-making franchise live in concert.
The MSO’s performance of John Williams’ original score will be set to screenings of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets as part of the Harry Potter Concert Series. Touring since June 2016, the series will see hundreds of performances across more than 35 countries through 2018.
But, according to Justin Freer, producer and conductor of the series, it’s the first time it’ll be performed by a symphony orchestra.
