You’re in Paris. You want the art, the architecture, the ambience and of course, the delicious baked goods. But the journey to get there was long and arduous, meaning you have absolutely no time for sub-par bakery items. You can only accept the very best.
Thankfully, we know where to get the best baguette in all of Paris so you don’t have to go looking for it yourself. Boulangerie Brun has just received the annual Grand Prize for the best baguette in the city.
Sami Bouattour is the Head Baker who received the prize at Fête du Pain, or ‘The Feast of Bread’, last Saturday. The prize includes the honour of making bread for the new French President, Emmanuel Macron, at his home at Palais de l’Élysée and a $6000AUD cash prize.
It’s nice to hear that the hard work paid off for Bouattour, who reportedly gets up at 2.30am every weekday morning to make 700 baguettes to sell at the bakery.
As you can imagine, the lines are usually out the door to snag one of the award-winning baguettes. So if you miss out, you can always try the other Parisian bakeries that were voted into the top 10.
Holding the number two spot for the best baguette in Paris is Aux Délices de Glacière in the 13th arrondissement, followed by the stylish Boulangerie Dupain in the 3rd arrondissement. Boulangerie Gontran Cherrier, Boulangerie Bichon, Les Gourmandises d’Eiffel and Boulangerie 2M nabbed spots four, five, six and seven.
Also making the list are Le Grenier à Pain at number eight and Boulangerie Tembely at number nine. Rounding out the top 10 baguettes in Paris is Maison Hubert Trévisse.
Of course, you can challenge yourself to try all 10. When in Paris, right?
